USAA, a trusted provider of financial solutions for military personnel and their families, faced a clear challenge: redesign the My Account Dashboard for mobile without sacrificing its functionality.
The primary goal was to create a user-friendly experience that catered to both enlisted and retired military members, providing quick access to essential account features while showcasing USAA's financial advice and tools. Our audience included military personnel who relied on USAA for their financial needs, necessitating a seamless and easy-to-use mobile banking solution that retained all desktop features.
To achieve this, we focused on striking the ideal balance between mobile and desktop functionality and employed responsive design principles to ensure a consistent experience across devices.
We faced a clear challenge with Millennials and Gen Z’s, a significant part of USAA's membership, being less inclined to contact customer service. The solution was a streamlined, user-friendly My Account Dashboard mobile experience that balanced mobile optimization with full desktop functionality, ensuring an easily scannable mobile web experience. This approach catered to military members stationed worldwide, some with limited connectivity, by eliminating complex or unnecessary visual elements.
FOCUSING ON INFORMATION, TOOLS + ACCESS MEMBERS NEEDED
Member needs included quick and easy access to tasks and tools for servicing their accounts (insurance, banking, investments, etc.). We were also tasked with streamlining the design and limiting any graphic load times due to the limitation of bandwidth of military members that were stationed in remote areas of the country or world.
SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL BANKING TOOLS
Within a few months of close collaboration with our clients, we were able to deliver an updated My Accounts web-based banking tool that maintained a high standard and a cohesive look across all platforms and the whole product suite. On top of that, the system is highly sustainable. The optimized mobile web design excels at providing a seamless user journey both, at home and equally well in the more remote areas of the world.
